The 1st edition of the Chiplun Half Marathon in 2024 was a wonderful success, thanks to the combined efforts of runners from across India, local residents, and students from schools in Chiplun. Around 1,200 participants joined the movement, coming together with great enthusiasm to support the powerful theme—Run to Eliminate Plastic Waste. Their collective spirit helped spread awareness far and wide, and inspired meaningful action for a cleaner environment.

Building on a strong foundation, the 2nd edition of the Chiplun Half Marathon returns in 2025 with even more energy and broader participation. This year, we aim to highlight certified routes, robust route support, and seamless logistics. Our continued focus on sportsmanship, local culture, and fitness will keep inspiring the community.

Theme: Run to Eliminate Plastic Waste

Sangharsha Krida Mandal is a Chiplun-based sports organization dedicated to promoting athletic excellence and community engagement. Rooted in Chiplun city of Ratnagiri district and the Sahyadri region, the Mandal organizes youth-focused running events and fitness programs across Ratnagiri and Konkan

This year’s theme, “Run to Eliminate Plastic Waste,” brings attention to one of the most urgent environmental issues affecting our communities and ecosystems today.

Plastic pollution impacts soil, rivers, wildlife, and even human health. Through this theme, the event aims to promote awareness and encourage responsible waste practices. Each runner becomes a voice for sustainability, helping spread the message of collective responsibility and action.

Impact from CHM 2024

In the previous edition, the theme was brought to life through creative and effective awareness efforts

  • A crocodile sculpture made entirely from used plastic bottles symbolized the threat of plastic pollution to wildlife.
  • Banners, flex boards, and awareness displays were installed across the event venue to engage and educate participants.
  • Most notably, 100% of the plastic bottles distributed during the event were collected and recycled, ensuring zero plastic waste from the marathon.

These efforts demonstrated that with the right intent and planning, public events can lead by example in environmental responsibility.

The Chiplun Half Marathon 2025 continues this commitment—encouraging every participant to not just run, but to run for a cleaner, greener tomorrow.
Run with purpose. Run to eliminate plastic waste.
